Did you know?

Thoughts

Did you know the average person has 40,000 to 65,000 thoughts a day?  Did you know only 5% are positive thoughts?  See more:

November 2010 - Sonoran Living ABC - Sally Marks indicated the average person has 40,000 to 65,000 thoughts a day, and 95 percent of those thoughts are negative. When I heard that I was very surprised.  We need positive energy and we need to change those statistics.  I believe the grateful bracelets will help us with that.  It is a constant reminder of all the things we are grateful for.  I wear my bracelet everyday and I constantly look down at it or touch it so and I then finish the sentence. If our thoughts are positive we will be changing the statics and the energy around us! Go to the catalog of this website and get your bracelet now and let's start changing these statistics!

Tom Ferry's new book "A Life by Design" - nearly everyday someone says to you "Have a great day" or "Make it a great day". In Tom Ferry's book he suggests four daily must dos, to truly have a great day.

Express gratitude for what you do have.

Release those things you have no control over.

Declare four things you will do today and do them.

Exercise for 30-40 minutes.

Best Groupon Ever - Sent by my brother:

"BEST ‘GROUPON’ EVER! -- I was playing hide-and-seek with the 3 & 5 year old grandsons the other night. Then exhausted, we all fell asleep as a GROUP, ON the floor.     Cost Nothing – Worth Everything! "

In horrific events
there will be heroic efforts.
In tragedy there always comes triumph.
In disaster, we find deliverance by coming together.

What I like most about April Fool's Day is that it often brings out the one of the best things within us.  Laugher - both quotes from P.R. 'Randy' Coone

There can be no compromise with violence; it cannot be reformed or controlled; cannot be disciplined into decency or codified into common sense.  You can no more win a war than you can win an earthquake.  What one decides to do in crisis depends on one's philosophy of life.  If one hasn't any philosophy, others make the decisions.  Jeannette Rankin - Social Activist America's First Congresswoman - 1916

Health - Tips on feeling super and just feel good!

Health seems to be the topic of interest these days and with good reason.  Every day we hear about things that are good or not so good for us.

White Vinegar 2012:  My testimonial - I had a leg cramp on the side of my leg.  Walking, rubbing, and stretching did not help. Finally I remembered reading that swiping White Vinegar on the cramp will get rid of it and it worked, instantly!

Listerine - received an email regarding this remedy:

Listerine ( Blue color) therapy for toenail fungus: Get rid of unsightly toenail fungus by soaking your toes in Listerine Mouthwash. The powerful antiseptic leaves your toenails looking healthy again.

1-31-2011 we honor Jack LaLanne, age 96, known as "The Godfather of Fitness", we will miss him but I will think of him when working out - he was such an inspiration.  Here is one of his quotes:  "Yes, exercise is the catalyst. That's what makes everything happen: your digestion, your skin, hair, sex life, everything depends on circulation, and how to increase circulation.

Various emails I have received with interesting information and I do not know who created these theories but thought some of them were worth mentioning.

Drinking water at a certain time maximizes its  effectiveness on  the  body: 2 glasses  of water after waking up -  helps activate  internal organs
1 glass  of water 30  minutes before a  meal - helps  digestion
1 glass  of water before taking a bath - helps  lower blood pressure
1 glass  of water before going to bed -  avoids stroke or heart  attack

Mayo Clinic Aspirin  Dr. Virend Somers, is a Cardiologist from the  Mayo Clinic,  who is lead author of the report in the July 29,  2008 issue of the Journal of the American College of  Cardiology.

Most heart attacks occur in the day, generally  between 6 A.M. and noon. Having one during the  night, when the heart should be most at rest, means  that something unusual happened. Somers and his colleagues have been working for a decade to show that sleep apnea is to blame
.

1. If you take an aspirin or a baby aspirin once a day,  take it at night.
The reason: Aspirin has a 24-hour "half-life";  therefore, if most heart attacks happen
in the wee hours of the morning, the Aspirin would be strongest in your system.

2. FYI,
Aspirin lasts a really long time in your medicine chest  for years,
(when it gets old, it smells like vinegar).

Something that we can do to help ourselves -  nice to know. Bayer is making crystal aspirin to dissolve instantly on the tongue. They work much faster than the tablets.

Why keep Aspirin by your bedside? It's about Heart Attacks -

There are other symptoms of a heart attack,  besides the  pain on the left arm. One must also be aware of an  intense pain on the chin, as well as nausea and lots of  sweating;  however, these symptoms may also occur less  frequently.

Note: There may be NO pain in the chest during a  heart attack.

The majority of people (about 60%) who had  a heart attack during their sleep did not wake  up.
However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake  you up from  your deep sleep.
If that happens, immediately dissolve two  aspirins in your mouth  and swallow them with a bit of water.
Afterwards:  - Call 911. - Phone a neighbor or a family member who lives  very close by.
- Say "heart attack!"  - Say that you have taken 2 Aspirins.  - Take a seat on a chair or sofa  near the front door, and wait for their arrival and  ...Stay up by sitting in a chair avoid lying down!

Gatorade - Drinking two glasses of Gatorade can relieve headache pain almost instantly-without the unpleasant side effects from traditional pain relievers.  I tried this method but instead of using Gatorade, I used 'Performance' made by Shaklee because it does not have preservatives in it, anyways it did work, I was so pleased.

Colgate toothpaste makes an excellent salve for burns

Altoids peppermints - Before going to the drugstore for a high price inhaler, chew a few of curiously strong Altoids peppermints will clear up your stuffed nose.

Sore throat - mix 1/4 cup of vinegar and 1/4 cup of honey and take one tablespoon six times a day - the vinegar kills the bacteria.

Amazing little Cucumbers (again I received an email and not sure who did the research on it but found it to be very interesting):

Cucumber contains most the vitamins you need everyday, just one cucumber contains vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, folic acid, Vitamin C, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium and Zinc.

Feeling tired in the afternoon, put down the can of soda and pick up a cucumber. Cucumbers are a good source of B Vitamins and Carbohydrates that can provide that quick pick-me-up that can last for hours.

Looking for a fast and easy way to remove cellulite before going to the pool? Try rubbing a slice or two of cucumbers along your problem area for a few minutes, the photochemical in the cucumber cause the collagen in your skin to tighten, firming up the outer layer and reducing the visibility of cellulite.  Works great on wrinkles too.

Want to avoid a hangover or terrible headache? Eat a few cucumber slices before going to bed and wake up refreshed and headache free.  Cucumbers contain enough sugar, B vitamins and electrolytes to replenish nutrients the body lost, keeping everything in equilibrium, avoiding both a hangover and headache.

:Looking for a 'green' way to clean your faucets, sinks or stainless steel? This one is super - take a slice of cucumber and rub it on the surface you want to clean, not only will it remove years of tarnish and bring back the shine, but it won't leave streaks and it won't harm your fingers or fingernails while you clean.

Using a pen and made a mistake? Take the outside of the cucumber and slowly use it to erase the pen writing, also works great on crayons and markers that the kids have used to decorate the walls.

It is amazing what a little cucumber can do; I believe I will always have one in my refrigerator!

December 30, 2010 - the show 'The Doctors' had a remedy for coughs.  Make a smoothie drink with purple grapes (with seeds), lemon, honey and cayenne pepper.  It sparked my interest because at the time I had a cold with a cough. So I tried it and it really worked.  They never did say how much of anything so I guessed at it.  I put in a batch of grapes, 2 tablespoons of honey, I peeled a lemon and put a slice and then about 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, blend really well with a blender or smoothie maker-it makes about 3 to 4 oz.  I did not not cough for hours.  I had my special cocktail 3-4 times a day.

I had heard that drinking pickle juice after a hard workout is better than having a sports drink.  I have not tried that it. What works for me, especially after a good workout, is drinking a 1/2 glass of chocolate milk (2%) - it gives you protein and sugars that your body needs to rebuild the muscles.  I read this in the SELF magazine, really, I don't make this stuff up.  If you need to be dairy free almond chocolate milk works as well, this is what I now use since I need to be dairy free.  My insides was having some quirks that I had checked out and doctors were trying to label me with all sorts of things.  So before I did anything because I thought it was something I was consuming I had a blood test done, pretty extensive too, and dairy was my highest and yeast being my second and then some little ones.  It has been almost a year now and I feel better than before.  I am eating pretty much anything I want too; however, did have to find somehting else to use other than dairy and there are a lot of options out there.  Have not totally put yeast back in my diet yet and have accepted the fact that dairy is out for me.  My smoothies are great and better than a dairy milk shake that I use to have.  Found new loves in food and very happy that I had the blood test!  Feeling very super!

Feeling Super

I feel super every day.  I am a positive person with lots of energy.  Some of my friends, co-workers and family members refer to me as the energizer bunny. I do work at this daily and it is easy. I will preface that I am just me and sharing with you what works for me.  I believe you have to feel good inside and outside to get to super.

People who know me also say that I am lucky, well I have to agree with them, I am.  I have an amazing and loving husband followed by 5 wonderful children and super ten grand-children.  People perceive me as winning all of the time.   I would say my percentage of winning things is high.  What makes any person lucky - I truly believe it is your outlook on life.

I am not sure if you have ever read 'The Secret', but in one section it indicates that whatever we consistently think, will happen. If you say for instance, I always get bills in the mail...then what usually happens, you get bills.  So if you change those thoughts to something more pleasing, then those pleasing things will come to you.

A friend of mine was having a hard time finding the right person - I asked her to tell me what she wants in a person.  So she focused in answering the question on things she wanted and not the things she did not want.  It just makes it so much easier to focus on what you want!

Did you know that 95% of the time our thoughts are negative? I was shocked with this statistics.   We need to get more positive energy out there and we can begin now with something simple.

Let's start out with something simple

Start with a constant reminder, the Grateful Bracelet.   I believe the grateful bracelets will help us with reminding us of the things we are grateful for.  I wear my bracelet everyday and I constantly look down at it or touch it and then finish the sentence. If our thoughts are positive we will be changing the statistics and the energy around us! We can make a difference!  Go to the catalog of this website and get your bracelet now and let's start changing these statics!

Family/Friends

Family and friends are very important in my life.  It starts with my husband, Bill.  He is a kind, loving, super person and I am so grateful for him.  I come from a large family of 8.  My parents died in their early sixties, which is very young.  They were good parents and the one thing I regret is that I did not get all of their stories.  So I am now big on taking pictures and then writing stories about the pictures.  I stay pretty current, I want my children, grandchildren, great grand children and so on to know who we are and what we did in our lives.  I create scrapbooks, collages, movies and slideshows.  I also have started doing this as a service for those folks who do not have time and would like that done. Go to services of this website for more details.

Stories

As I mentioned family, friends and life are important to me.  Documenting my stories and sharing them is something I like to do.  Some folks do not have the time or know how to do it and there are some people that would like to do it but do not know where to start.  There is an eBook in the catalog section that can help you get started.  Check it out.

There is something else I document and that is my health history. I use a software that is on my computer that I can print the information or put on a CD/flash drive for my providers.  It tracks appointments, allergies, lab/x-ray, medications/vitamins, immunizations and more.  Pertinent information that a provider needs to know.  Click on  'Links'  or 'catalog' for more information regarding how to get your software.

Bottom-line

I have a great life and I feel good.  I am 58 years old and feel super.  I can do things with my grand-kids.  I go on hikes and bike rides.  I love to dance and I even like to exercise.  Plain and simple, I love to have fun and I do have fun!  I feel super because I feel super inside and out and again this is me sharing with you what works for me.
